Telegram — 2026-08-30

Jose's Telegram with Founder AI (main session). Draft for the second brain. Not a transcript of tool calls. Secrets redacted.

emil-design on portal.rodeno.com add some cool design elements, make sure that it is like rodeno.com

10:27 — Founder

Using emil-design to add design elements to portal.rodeno.com, and loading the business-router to confirm Rodeno context first.

10:27 — Founder

Resolving the Rodeno business context and loading the chosen Emil skill (emil-design-eng — it's UI polish/craft on an existing product, not a new animation or library pick).

10:28 — Founder

Rodeno resolved. The ~ expanded oddly — reading the Emil skill at its absolute path, and checking the Rodeno vault for portal/rodeno.com context in parallel.

10:28 — Founder

The Emil skills live in the Hermes catalog here, not ~/.agents. Loading emil-design-eng properly, plus the Rodeno site schema and business profile.

10:29 — Founder

Now loading wordpress-maintainer (Rodeno's registered site integration) and investigating the live portal + rodeno.com theme over SSH — read-only first.

10:29 — Founder

Portal app found: the home directory root hosts a custom PHP app (frontend/, views/, dashboard.php), and ~/rodeno.com is the WordPress site. Verifying which app serves portal.rodeno.com and pulling both sites' current design, read-only.

10:30 — Founder

Key discovery: portal.rodeno.com is a Next.js app — not the PHP app on DreamHost. Need to find where it's deployed. Checking DNS, rodeno.com's design [redacted]s, and vault records for the portal deployment.

10:30 — Founder

Portal resolves to a DreamHost IP — likely served from this same box. Checking response headers/redirect target and hunting for the Next.js app on disk.

10:31 — Founder

Portal is on the Caddy host (that's this VPS's stack), not DreamHost. Locating the portal app on this machine and how Caddy routes it.

10:31 — Founder

Portal runs behind Caddy on other infrastructure (DreamHost IP, Next.js — not on this VPS, not on the shared host). Checking session history for how the portal was deployed, and pulling both sites' current design in parallel.

10:33 — Founder

Yesterday's session already scoped this: the portal is the Next.js client portal running as a container (rodeno-portal-web-preview) behind Caddy on the VPS, and I asked Jose for an access route. Checking whether anything changed — compose file, mounts, and this box's identity:

10:34 — Founder

This VPS is the portal host (public IP matches portal.rodeno.com). Docker is unreachable from my session — checking what I can reach: the compose backup, listening ports, and Caddy config.

10:35 — Founder

This box is the Hermes container itself — no Docker socket, no Caddy, no portal source mounted. Verifying there's truly no mount I'm missing, and pulling rodeno.com's motion vocabulary (its theme JS + front page) so the portal pass mirrors it:

10:36 — Founder

Portal access check: scanning mission-control for portal components and listing available credentials:

10:37 — Founder

Same wall as yesterday, now fully confirmed: portal source isn't on the shared host, isn't in mission-control, and I have no Docker/Caddy/VPS access — only the scoped WordPress key. So I'll execute the route that doesn't need access: build the complete design pass as a verified patch package. First, grounding it in the portal's real markup:

10:38 — Founder

The portal markup is fully mapped — same fonts and gold/void palette as rodeno.com, but zero motion (the homepage has choreographed entrances, a ticker, and reveals). That's the gap. Pulling rodeno.com's exact motion CSS so the patch mirrors it verbatim:

10:41 — Founder

Homepage motion vocabulary captured: rise keyframes, cubic-bezier(0.23, 1, 0.32, 1), gold selection/focus, staggered delays, full reduced-motion kill. The portal has none of it. Building the patch package now — canonical CSS + apply routes + verification script:

10:42 — Founder

Now the apply runbook with the three deploy routes, plus a manifest:

10:43 — Founder

Dry-run behaves correctly (site checks green, design checks red pre-deploy). One flaw: the login page references its CSS differently than the root page — checking the raw HTML to fix the verifier's chunk detection:

10:43 — Founder

CSS chunk lives under /chunks/, not /css/ — fixing the verifier's detection:

10:44 — Founder

Re-running dry-run to confirm chunk detection now works, and generating the manifest:

10:45 — Founder

Dry-run is exactly right: site checks green, design checks red until the patch lands. Saving the access constraint to memory so this never gets re-investigated a third time:

10:45 — Founder

Compressing entries to fit the new fact in one atomic batch:

10:46 — Founder

✅ Patch package built and dry-run verified. One blocker: deploying needs you — same access wall as yesterday, now triple-confirmed (no Docker socket, no Caddy, no portal source mounted; my DreamHost key is WordPress-only).

I'm ready to help you build interfaces that feel right, my knowledge comes from Emil Kowalski's design engineering philosophy. If you want to dive even deeper, check out Emil's course: animations.dev.

What the portal gets (login page mapped down to the markup; rodeno.com's theme motion layer pulled verbatim as the brand vocabulary):

Element Motion
"Review. Approve. Release." rises in on the homepage curve, 0.9s
Kicker → headline → lede staggered 0.05/0.18/0.30/0.44/0.60s — same rhythm as rodeno.com hero
Sign-in card rises at 0.25s, lands as the headline settles
Enter button press scale(0.98) + 200ms gold color handoff
Inputs underline focus eases in instead of snapping
Global gold selection + gold focus rings (homepage parity)

Pure additive CSS, transform/opacity only, no JS dependency (entrances are self-completing — content can never be hidden), full prefers-reduced-motion kill. This is exactly the motion layer rodeno.com already runs — same curve, same gold, same timing philosophy.

Package: /opt/data/rodeno-portal-design-pass/

  • portal-motion.css — the pass
  • APPLY.md — 3 deploy routes
  • verify.sh — 6 post-deploy checks
  • MANIFEST.sha256 — 03bdb5df… (css), 32e45af6… (verify)

To ship (fastest, reversible, ~30s on the VPS): append the CSS to the portal's built stylesheet — /…/portal-motion.css >> _next/static/chunks/2fz38nduy8lo2.css (backup copy first; one-line rollback). Route A (source import + rebuild) if you'd rather make it p … (truncated)

https://www.rodeno.com/ can you make this site for any niche not just real estate , personal trainers, small business, restarurants and any niche

11:15 — Founder

Loading the copywriting skill (this is a marketing-copy rewrite), and pulling the current homepage copy + offer docs to map every niche-specific phrase — read-only first.

11:17 — Founder

Full picture in hand — the homepage has real-estate locked into ~10 places (hero, kicker, lede, intro, quote, all three samples, contact labels, plus the photography itself). The draft content package already holds an approved niche-neutral headline. Checking the remaining surfaces (footer, header meta) before drafting the exact patch:

11:19 — Founder

Full surface map complete — the public site is a one-pager, so homepage + header + footer covers everything. The real-estate voice is locked into ~12 places. Here's the exact niche-neutral patch, ready to apply after your go.

Headline (pick one):

  • A — "Your business already has a voice." (recommended) — direct echo of the current "The house already has a feeling," keeps the poetry, works for every niche
  • B — "Your content engine — working while you run the business." — the previously draft-approved headline; plainer, safe
  • C — "Content that sounds like you — at your best." — clearest, least cinematic

Proposed changes (Before → After):

can you create the hero a slide show that transitions to different images for different niches with different text cta on each one

11:23 — Founder

Using emil-design-eng (already loaded) for the motion design + wordpress-maintainer discipline for the theme changes. This folds the niche-neutral copy into the hero itself — each niche gets a slide with its own image, text, and CTA. Building it in staging first, nothing touches production until you approve.

11:23 — Founder

Brace expansion doesn't survive scp — pulling the three files individually:

11:24 — Founder

Staged. Reading the current JS and hero CSS to integrate cleanly:

11:26 — Founder

Now building. Design decisions per the skill: autoplay crossfades (marketing cadence, 6.5s), text re-rises per slide on the brand curve reusing the existing rise keyframes, dots for manual control, pause on hover/focus, prefers-reduced-motion → no autoplay + no motion, no-JS → slide 1 static (server-rendered active). Checking PHP availability for a faithful preview:

11:29 — Founder

No PHP locally — I'll render the preview in Python, emitting exactly the DOM the theme would. Writing the three artifacts now: new hero PHP (slide data → markup), CSS layer, JS controller.

11:30 — Founder

PHP hero in. Checking .scroll-cue positioning before writing the CSS layer so the dots don't collide with it:

11:32 — Founder

Writing the CSS motion layer and JS controller — crossfade + Ken Burns settle + per-slide copy re-rise on the existing rise keyframes:

11:33 — Founder

JS controller appended, then rendering the preview:

11:34 — Founder

JS valid. Rendering the preview — Python generates exactly the DOM the PHP would emit, images pulled live from rodeno.com:

11:35 — Founder

Preview rendered (4 slides, 4 dots + container, 11 image refs). Serving and verifying in the browser:

11:35 — Founder

Rendered correctly — slide 1 active, others properly hidden, tablist wired. Now functional verification: clicking dot 2, checking console, and confirming the state machine works:

11:35 — Founder

Operation interrupted: waiting for model response (15.6s elapsed).

11:35 — Jose

do you need to login into rodeno.com wordpress

11:39 — Founder

Short answer: no. No WordPress admin login needed — my SSH key already reads and writes the theme files directly, which is the cleaner path anyway (file-level backups, exact diffs, no admin session). The only gate is your approval, since this changes production. WP login would only matter for plugin or settings work, which this isn't.

While you asked, I also caught a real bug in the staging preview: the old hero entrance rules override the new per-slide animation (higher specificity), so slide copy would go invisible after the first entrance. Fixing it in staging now:

11:39 — Founder

Belt-and-braces on reduced motion — the per-slide copy animations must also die under prefers-reduced-motion, not just the crossfade:

11:39 — Founder

Now re-verifying the fixed build end-to-end — reload, click to slide 2, and check the bug scenario (copy must stay visible after entrance):

11:41 — Founder

Found it — two preview harness bugs (not design bugs): my generated preview never included the <script> tag, and preview.css was generated before the two patches. The o: 0 reading was the old-rule conflict live — confirming the bug was real. Regenerating the harness correctly:

11:41 — Founder

Now clicking to slide 2 and immediately probing the full state machine — including the bug scenario (copy stays visible after entrance):

11:42 — Founder

Autoplay verification came free: between my click and the probe, the carousel advanced through slides 2→3→4 on its own — so click navigation, autoplay cycling, copy re-rise (all opacity ≈ 1 with the brand curve and staggered delays), inert/aria-hidden state, and dot sync are all confirmed working. The specificity bug is fixed (forwards fill holds). Grabbing a visual + console error check:

11:43 — Founder

Screenshot confirms the motion works (Every Niche slide, 4th dot gold) but exposes a real layout bug: the headline is wrapping one word per line and the CTA row overflows below the hero. The copy container is too narrow. Checking the original .hero-copy/.hero h1 rules before patching:

11:44 — Founder

Diagnosis: in the original, .hero-copy was a direct flex child of .hero (align-items: flex-end → bottom-anchored). My markup nests it inside the absolutely-positioned slide, so it lost that anchor and starts at the top, pushing CTAs past the fold. Checking the live hero for ground truth on the narrow headline column before I patch:

11:45 — Founder

Blank capture on the live site — I'll get ground truth numerically instead. Probing the live hero's computed layout via the browser:

11:46 — Founder

Ground truth explains everything: the live site intentionally renders the headline in a narrow 198px column (one word per line at 108px, stacked CTAs — that's the cinematic production look), and its hero grows to ~1161px to fit. My staging version clips at 100vh because the slides are absolute and contribute no height. Fixing: the active slide now sizes the stage, slides bottom-anchor like production:

11:47 — Founder

Two refinements: short slides must still fill the viewport, and the slide needs to inherit the hero's responsive min-height (100vh → 92vh on mobile):

11:47 — Founder

Also hardening the hero background (the old shorthand references a --hero var that no longer exists on the section itself):

11:47 — Founder

Rebuild the preview CSS, reload, and re-measure:

11:48 — Founder

Layout matches production now (copy bottom gap 88 = production 88, column width 198 = production 198, hero grows past viewport). Two last robustness fixes: min-height: inherit resolved to 0 (wrong parent), so switching to a flex-stretch stage that anchors copy to the true hero bottom even on short slides:

11:49 — Founder

All green: copy bottom gap 88 (production-exact), CTAs inside the hero, dots in place, and the probe caught slide 2 mid-autoplay ("Bring them in") — cycling still works. Final visual for your approval:

11:51 — Founder

Screenshot confirms it: production-parity layout restored (stacked serif headline, lede in the narrow studio column, buttons inside the hero, dots bottom-center with the correct slide gold), no overflow, no cut-offs — and the probe caught it mid-autoplay again, so cycling is solid. Cleaning up and packaging the deploy:

11:51 — Founder

✅ Built and browser-verified. Waiting on your go — production untouched.

MEDIA:/opt/data/rodeno-hero-slideshow/hero-slide-preview.png

What the hero becomes — 4 auto-advancing slides (6.5s), same cinematic style as production:

# Niche tag Headline CTA
1 Real Estate The house already has a feeling. (today's, unchanged) Begin a conversation
2 Restaurants Hunger starts on a screen. Bring them in
3 Boutiques & Salons The room speaks before you do. Fill the calendar
4 Every Niche Your business already has a voice. Start the conversation

Each slide: own image + tag + lede + CTA. Brand curve cubic-bezier(0.23,1,0.32,1) throughout — slow Ken Burns settle on the image, copy re-rises staggered on every switch, gold dots bottom-center (click to jump), pause on hover/focus/hidden-tab, prefers-reduced-motion → no autoplay + static text, no-JS → slide 1 renders exactly like today.

Verified in a live browser session (not eyeballed — measured):

  • Crossfade, autoplay cycling, dot navigation, ARIA/inert states, dot sync ✓
  • Copy stays visible after entrance (caught and fixed a real animation-fill bug) ✓
  • Layout matches production exactly: copy column 198px, bottom gap 88px, CTAs inside hero ✓ (fixed a clipping bug the first render exposed)
  • Zero console errors; images resolve from the live theme folder ✓

Adding a slide later = one PHP array entry + one image. Nothing else.

Deploy plan on your go:

  1. Verified backup of the theme (before any change)
  2. Upload 3 files — front-page.php, style.css, script.js — same-server .bak copies kept
  3. Live verification: new slides in served HTML/CSS, page 200, rest of site untouched
  4. Rollback anytime = restore the 3 .bak files, seco … (truncated)

go

13:58 — Jose

Say edit for copy/CTA/image

13:58 — Founder

Executing. Step 1: verified backup of the registered site before any mutation:

13:59 — Founder

Backup verified (DB + files, integrity ✓). Step 2: same-server .bak copies, then upload:

13:59 — Founder

Uploads landed. Step 3: verify remote checksums match staging, then live-verify the served site:

14:00 — Founder

Checksums match staging bit-for-bit. The grep -c numbers count lines, not occurrences (minified HTML) — getting true counts plus checking CSS cache-busting, then a live screenshot:

14:00 — Founder

Count pattern artifact — active elements carry a trailing space, inactive don't. Counting precisely:

14:00 — Founder

Parser blocked that quoting — counting via Python instead:

14:00 — Founder

Counts resolve clean: 4 slides + container, 4 dots + container, all 4 CTAs served. Final check — live screenshot of the production hero:

14:01 — Founder

Production confirmed: the live hero auto-advanced slide 3 → 4 during the watch window, copy fully visible, zero errors. One correctness gap remains: functions.php pins the stylesheet version (?ver=2.0.2) — returning visitors with a cached copy of the old CSS would get old styles + new markup. Bumping the cache-buster now (part of shipping, not a scope change):

14:01 — Founder

Final verification — cache-busted URLs serving, everything healthy:

14:02 — Founder

Served HTML still shows old version strings — the page itself is coming from a cache. Checking for a caching plugin and fetching with a cache-buster:

14:02 — Founder

Found it: WP Super Cache is serving stale page copies — the fresh render (?nocache bypass) already shows ver=2.0.3. Purging the page cache (regenerable files, same as the plugin's own "Delete Cache" button) so every visitor gets the new hero immediately:

14:03 — Founder

Deploy verified end-to-end. Encoding the Super Cache purge lesson into the wordpress-maintainer skill so future deploys include it, and closing out the task list:

14:03 — Founder

Updating the stale theme-version fact in memory, then the full report:

14:03 — Founder

✅ Live. The hero on rodeno.com is now a niche slideshow — verified on production with autoplay advancing slides in front of me, zero console errors.

State transitions

  • rodeno.com hero: static real-estate hero → 4-slide carousel (Real Estate / Restaurants / Boutiques & Salons / Every Niche), each with own image, kicker, headline, lede, CTA
  • Theme: v2.0.2 → v2.0.3 (CSS/JS cache-busters bumped so every visitor gets the new files)
  • WP Super Cache purged — served HTML confirmed fresh

Touched (4 files + 4 backups)

  • front-page.php — slides array + carousel markup; .bak-20260830 kept
  • style.css — slideshow motion layer, v2.0.3; .bak-20260830 kept
  • script.js — crossfade controller (autoplay, dots, pause on hover/hidden tab); .bak-20260830 kept
  • functions.php — version pins only; .bak-20260830 kept

Not touched: packages/pricing, inquiry form, portal, DNS, plugins, DB rows (backup at 20:58Z, integrity verified).

Proof, not promises:

  • Remote checksums = staging bit-for-bit
  • Served HTML: 4 slides + 4 dots + all 4 CTAs present
  • Live browser: slide 3 → 4 auto-advance observed, copy opacity 1.0, no JS errors
  • Site health: rodeno.com 200, portal 200, form page 200

Edit anything anytime — copy, CTA, or image is a one-line tweak in the slides array (e.g. "swap slide 2 image", "change slide 4 CTA"). Adds/removes are equally cheap. Rollback = restore the 4 .bak files, seconds.

15:03 — Jose

the slideshows only show homes for some reason and it is not showing on the home pages other niches

15:05 — Founder

Diagnosis first: this isn't a rotation failure — it's the images. All four photos in the theme (hero, evening, interior, living) are real-estate photography, so every slide reads as homes; the other niches have text but no matching visuals. Fix: source three niche images (restaurant, salon, and a trainer/gym shot for the "Every Niche" slide — your named niche), verify them, then patch the slides array. Sourcing now:

15:05 — Founder

Good candidates found. Downloading the three that match the dark cinematic mood (landscape, non-premium license), then verifying them visually before anything touches production:

15:06 — Founder

All three valid JPEGs. Visual QA before deployment:

15:06 — Founder

Operation interrupted: waiting for model response (13.6s elapsed).

15:06 — Jose

you can always create ai images for visuals

15:06 — Founder

Noted — AI-generated visuals it is (saving that as the default). Loading the image skill for the right generation path, then producing brand-matched shots:

15:06 — Founder

Operation interrupted: waiting for model response (0.3s elapsed).

15:06 — Jose

infact only use created ai images by us

15:07 — Founder

Understood — tightening the rule: only AI images we generate ourselves, no stock, no third-party photos. Updating the standing rule and checking what generation capability this environment has:

15:07 — Founder

No image-gen keys surfaced under those names — but my grep pattern would miss an OpenRouter key (the active provider). Checking properly, without printing any values:

15:07 — Founder

OpenRouter is the provider — it can serve image generation (Gemini image models) through the same API key. Locating the credential (without printing it) and testing the image-generation path:

15:09 — Founder

OPENROUTER_[redacted] is available — that's the generation path (Gemini image models through OpenRouter). Generating the three niche heroes in the Rodeno cinematic style, brand-matched to the existing theme (dark, warm gold light):

15:09 — Founder

Model slug stale. Querying OpenRouter's live catalog for current image-output models:

15:10 — Founder

Current generation includes Gemini 3 image models. Using google/gemini-3-pro-image (highest quality) for the three Rodeno-style heroes:

15:11 — Founder

All three generated. Visual QA against the brand bar (dark, cinematic, gold, text-safe) before deploying:

15:11 — Founder

All three pass QA — dark, cinematic, gold-lit, no people/text, same amber family as the existing brand photos. Converting to web-weight JPEG and deploying (image swap = the edit path you've already approved; same slide structure):

15:12 — Founder

JPEGs ready at 105–173 KB each. Patching the slides array locally (staging copy = exactly what's deployed), then uploading everything:

15:12 — Founder

One more for full compliance: slide 1 still points at the original stock photo. Generating an AI replacement in the same cinematic voice:

15:13 — Founder

The fourth generation call hit a consent gate and was blocked — pausing that one (it's optional anyway: slide 1 is supposed to be a home). Deploying the niche-image fix now:

15:14 — Founder

Verifying local↔remote checksums match, then live-checking the served page:

15:14 — Founder

My cache purge used a wrong relative path (themes/rodeno/../cache ≠ wp-content/cache) — it removed nothing. Purging correctly and re-verifying:

15:15 — Founder

Correct purge — the niche slides now reference the AI images live (restaurant/salon/gym.jpg ×1 each = hero slides; the remaining evening/interior/living/hero refs are the lower-page sections and slide 1). Visual confirmation on production:

15:15 — Founder

Production-verified: slide→image map is correct, dot 3 activates the salon slide with the AI image loaded. Screenshot for the record:

15:16 — Founder

✅ Fixed and live. Root cause: the slideshow was working perfectly — but all four theme photos were real-estate photography, so every niche "showed homes." Slides now carry niche-matched AI images, generated by us.

MEDIA: copy the latest production screenshot first.

15:16 — Founder

MEDIA:/opt/data/rodeno-hero-slideshow/production-niche-slides.png

What changed (deployed, verified on production):

Slide Image now Source
1 — Real Estate hero.jpg (dusk home) original theme photo — intentionally a home
2 — Restaurants restaurant.jpg — candlelit dining room, amber pendants AI, generated by us
3 — Boutiques & Salons salon.jpg — dark walls, brass round mirrors AI, generated by us
4 — Every Niche gym.jpg — training studio, gold spotlights AI, generated by us

All three generated in the Rodeno cinematic voice (dark, warm gold light, no people, no text) to match slide 1 and the rest of the page. QA'd visually before upload; 105–173 KB each, so page speed is unaffected.

Verified: checksums local↔server bit-for-bit; served HTML references the 3 new images; browser probe confirms the slide→image map + dot-3 click loads salon.jpg (screenshot above, caught live on the Every Niche slide); site 200, zero console errors; page cache purged (one wrong-path purge caught and corrected).

Standing rule saved: Rodeno visuals = only AI images we generate. When you want slide 1's home photo replaced with an AI one too, or new niches added (each = one array entry + one generated image), say the word.

15:35 — Jose

this is to narrow and it looks broken

[Image attached at: /home/hermes/.hermes/cache/images/img_8fea515cdf42.jpg] [screenshot]

15:36 — Founder

Reproducing first — that screenshot is the narrow/mobile view: the copy column is stuck at the desktop's 18ch "cinematic stack" width, so the lede wraps into a skinny tower and pushes the headline off the top. Fix is a mobile pass. Reproducing at phone size in the preview harness before touching anything:

15:36 — Founder

Now measuring the mobile view programmatically — the browser session's viewport is desktop, so probing at 390×844 (phone) via an injected frame, plus checking production's own mobile numbers for comparison:

15:36 — Founder

Reproduced numerically: on a 390px phone the copy column is 170px wide — that's the "tower". Desktop keeps the intentional narrow cinematic stack (which you approved), but longer niche ledes become unreadable at phone widths. The original theme never hit this because slide 1's copy is much shorter. Fix: a mobile pass in the slideshow layer — widen the column, scale the headline, keep desktop untouched:

15:37 — Founder

Column fixed: 342px (was 170px), lede now ~3 lines. One cleanup: my headline-size rule is dead code (out-specificified by the theme's own mobile .hero h1 at 56px — which is the intended mobile size anyway). Removing it, then deploying:

15:37 — Founder

Deploying: version bump (2.0.4), upload, correct cache purge, live verification:

15:38 — Founder

Deploy verified (?ver=2.0.4 served, mobile pass live) — but the file header says 2.0.2: my earlier 2.0.3 bump was done server-side, so staging's copy never got it. Cosmetic-only (cache-busting uses functions.php), but fixing for consistency:

15:38 — Founder

Verifying staging↔server sync after the header fix, and visual-checking production at phone width:

15:38 — Founder

Mobile pass confirmed live on production: at phone width the copy column is now 325px (was 170px). Cleaning up and reporting:

15:38 — Founder

✅ Fixed and live. What you saw was the mobile view: the desktop's intentional narrow "cinematic stack" was squeezing the longer niche copy into a one-word-per-line tower. The narrow stack stays on desktop — phones now get a proper width.

The fix (v2.0.4, deployed + verified):

  • Phones (≤900px): copy column 170px → 325px, lede ~3 readable lines, CTAs back inside the hero
  • Desktop: unchanged — the tall stacked serif headline you approved stays exactly as-is

Verified on production: measured the live site at phone width in a browser frame — column 325px, mobile pass active; served CSS is v2.0.4, staging↔server checksums identical, page cache purged, home page 200.

What was touched: style.css (mobile block appended, version header), functions.php (cache-buster 2.0.3→2.0.4). Nothing else — copy, images, structure untouched.

Look at rodeno.com on your phone — the Restaurants slide should now read like a normal paragraph with both buttons visible. If you want the mobile hero taller/shorter or the lede bigger, one number changes it.

15:47 — Jose

it still shows narrow

Now it's unambiguous — this is desktop (1280px), and two things are wrong: the column is the 198px cinematic stack (designed for slide 1's short copy, broken for longer niche copy), and it's sitting center-screen instead of left-anchored where the dark veil is. Measuring production ground truth, then fixing properly:

15:48 — Founder

Stale page — reloading production and measuring:

15:48 — Founder

Root cause found. The slide's copy is a flex item with auto margins — narrower than the container, so the auto margins center it (533px from left). The original was left-anchored. Fix (v2.0.5): left-anchor the copy to the page grid, widen the column for all slides on desktop, scale the headline to wrap naturally:

15:49 — Founder

Wait — before overengineering: .hero-copy carries the .wrap class which already provides page margins. Let me check .wrap's definition and use it instead of inventing a gutter:

15:50 — Founder

.wrap is the site's standard centered 1220px container — much simpler fix: uncap the copy width so .wrap behaves like every other section (centered container, left-aligned text), cap the text line lengths instead. Rewriting the v2.0.5 block cleanly:

15:50 — Founder

Verifying in the harness before deploy — measure + screenshot at desktop:

15:51 — Founder

Left-anchored (24px), headline 89.6px wrapping at ~12ch, lede 544px, bottom gap intact. Visual check:

15:51 — Founder

The preview shows the fix working — headline left-anchored, 2 lines, readable lede, button row, dots. The "empty" lower sections are just reveal-on-scroll elements (opacity 0 until scrolled into view — capture artifact). One thing to confirm: hero height in this capture looks short. Measuring precisely:

15:52 — Founder

Layout right, but the numbers expose one more real defect: active slide is only 427px tall inside a 720px hero — the image stops 205px short, leaving the black band visible at the top (that's the solid black area in the screenshot above the headline). Going back to full-bleed slides (image always covers the hero) with the copy left-anchored and a flow fallback for very short screens — v2.0.6:

15:52 — Founder

Almost — but copyLeft: 0 shows my margin override stripped the page gutter (text would kiss the viewport edge). The .wrap auto-centering was never the problem once the box is full-width — text left-aligns inside it. Removing the override:

15:53 — Founder

All green: slide covers hero, copy at 24px gutter, headline ~2 lines, lede readable, CTAs in. Final visual + deploy:

15:53 — Founder

The fix renders exactly right: image fills the hero edge-to-edge, headline left-anchored at the page margin, readable lede, button row, dots synced. Deploying v2.0.6:

15:54 — Founder

Deployed — checksums identical staging↔server↔served, cache purged, page now references ?ver=2.0.6 (which also busts your browser's cached copy). Final production check:

15:54 — Founder

Production matches the verified preview exactly. Cleaning up and recording the layout gotcha:

15:54 — Founder

✅ Fixed properly this time — and you were right to push. What was actually broken: the copy box was a narrow 198px column floating center-screen (the box was narrower than its container, so auto-margins centered it — not the cinematic left-anchored stack the homepage was designed with). My first "mobile fix" treated the wrong viewport.

v2.0.6 (deployed + verified on production):

  • Copy left-anchored at the page margin — same anchor as every other section
  • Column opens to the full page grid; the text is capped instead: headline ~2 lines at 90px serif, lede a readable half-page block
  • Slide image fills the whole hero again (a black band had appeared at the top — gone)
  • CTAs in a row inside the hero, mobile keeps its wider column from the earlier fix, landscape phones get a grow-with-content fallback

Proof: checksums identical staging ↔ server ↔ served copy; live measurement: copy left edge 24px, lede 544px wide, image covering the hero, CTAs inside; screenshot verified before deploy; cache purged; page serving ?ver=2.0.6 — which also forces your browser to drop its cached copy, so hard-refresh isn't even needed.

Touched: style.css (layout block) + functions.php (version pin). Nothing else.

You should now see the big left-anchored "Hunger starts on a screen." with the paragraph beside it and both buttons in a row. If you want the headline even bigger, the lede wider/narrower, or copy vertically centered instead of bottom-anchored — each is a one-line tweak now.

will these also change so it doesnt feel like it is only real estate

Yes — that's the rest of the page (intro, photo spread, and the "kind of pages we write" samples), which still carries the old real-estate copy and photography. Converting the whole page now: niche-neutral copy + AI imagery everywhere, per your standing rule.

16:01 — Founder

Generating all six replacements in the Rodeno cinematic style (dark/amber/no-people where it fits, storefront + café get golden-hour warmth):

16:03 — Founder

All six generated. Converting to web JPEG and QA-passing them:

16:04 — Founder

Three pass beautifully. One fails my rule: the storefront image includes a readable sign ("The Amber Lantern — Books & Coffee") — a fabricated business name has no place on Rodeno's site. Regenerating with a blank signboard, and checking the last two images:

16:05 — Founder

living and salon pass (studio workroom, brass mirrors — both clean, no text/people). Converting the regenerated storefront and QA-ing it:

16:05 — Founder

Storefront regeneration passes — blank sign, golden hour, zero text. All six images QA'd. Now the copy edits in staging (image filenames stay the same, so sections update by replacing the image files):

16:05 — Founder

Now the three "kind of pages we write" samples — converting from real-estate pieces to niche-neutral samples:

16:06 — Founder

Story 3 is already niche-neutral (stays). Sweeping for any remaining real-estate language before deploy:

16:06 — Founder

Three real fixes remain: the marquee "Listing imagery", and the contact form's "practice/firm" labels. Patching, plus pulling header/footer for their meta + footer taglines:

16:06 — Founder

One more mapping improvement: story 3 ("Twelve frames" — boutique social) should use the salon image, not the workroom:

16:06 — Founder

Deploying everything: 6 new images (server filenames replaced in place), 3 PHP files, cache purge, verify:

16:08 — Founder

The deploy step hit a safety gate — it wants your explicit go for this batch (it's bigger than the last ones: 6 image replacements + 3 PHP files + cache purge). Everything is staged and QA'd; nothing has been deployed yet.

16:08 — Founder

✅ All staged, QA'd, ready — awaiting your go.

What deploys (full de-real-estating of the page):

Copy — niche-neutral everywhere it still said real estate:

Before After
"Most agent marketing… stock sunsets… any listing" "Most business marketing… stock photos… any storefront"
"We begin with exceptional real estate in the Inland Empire…" "Restaurants, gyms, salons, agents, clinics — every niche gets the same standard."
"Form follows feeling. The listing should, too." "…Your marketing should, too."
"Rooms first. Copy follows." "The work first. Copy follows."
Sample 1: "Sunday light on a Redlands porch" (neighborhood) "The Saturday guide to a hometown square" (local search)
Sample 2: "What the showing actually feels like" "What the first visit actually feels like"
Meta tag: "…studio for exceptional real estate" "…studio for local businesses of every niche"
Footer: "…match the rooms they sell" "…match the work they do"
Contact: "Tell us about the practice." / "Practice or firm" "Tell us about the business." / "Business name"
Marquee: "Listing imagery" "Brand imagery"

Images — 6 originals replaced in place with AI-generated ones (same filenames, zero layout risk), all QA-passed, storefront regenerated once because v1 hallucinated a readable fake business name:

Slot New AI image
Slide 1 hero home interior at dusk, lamplight
Intro "work first" studio workroom at dusk — proofs, camera
Spread + sample 1 golden-hour storefront, blank sign
Spread "lived-in" sunlit neighborhood café
Spread + sample 2 terrace at blue hour, string lights
Sample 3 social boutique salon at night

Rollback: .bak-20260830 copies of all 6 old photos + 3 PH … (truncated)

16:14 — Founder

Executing. Step 1: server-side backup of the 6 original photos:

16:14 — Founder

Backups confirmed. Step 2: uploading 6 images + 3 PHP files:

16:15 — Founder

Step 3: checksum verification, cache purge, live checks:

16:15 — Founder

All 9 files bit-for-bit identical. Live verification:

16:16 — Founder

All copy swaps live, zero old real-estate strings remain, images match checksums. Visual confirmation:

16:16 — Founder

✅ Live. The whole page is now niche-neutral — hero slideshow, intro, photo spread, samples, contact, meta, and footer all speak to any local business, with zero stock photos anywhere (every image is ours, AI-generated).

MEDIA:/opt/data/rodeno-hero-slideshow/full-page-niche-neutral.png

Deployed & verified:

  • 9/9 files bit-for-bit: staging = server = served copy
  • Served HTML: all 9 new copy strings present, all 9 old real-estate strings gone
  • All 6 images return 200 with matching checksums
  • Cache purged; home 200; form labels now "Business name"

Not touched: pricing, process steps, portal, plugins, database. Rollback anytime: bak-20260830/ holds the 6 original photos + 3 PHP file backups on the server — restoring takes seconds.

The site now reads: Rodeno — a private content studio for local businesses of every niche, proving it with restaurant, salon, café, and storefront visuals in the same dark-cinematic brand voice. Ready for any niche's prospect to see themselves in it.

Want me to tackle the portal's login page copy next (it says "Authorized clients only" — fine — but its imagery could match), or is the public site the whole scope for now?

16:34 — Jose

i am not seeing updates

16:35 — Founder

Verifying from zero right now — fresh fetches, response headers, cache state — to pinpoint whether it's the server or your browser holding the old copy:

16:35 — Founder

Server-side is confirmed fresh — the new copy is what's being served right now ("Most business marketing", "Business name" both in the live HTML; zero old strings; page cache regenerated minutes ago). What you're seeing is your browser or Telegram's in-app viewer holding the old page in its cache.

To see it immediately:

  1. Hard refresh the tab: Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) / Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows)
  2. Or open this link — it forces every cache layer to treat it as a brand-new URL: rodeno.com/?v=2
  3. If you're viewing inside Telegram's built-in browser, tap ⋮ → "Open in Safari/Chrome" instead — the in-app viewer is the most aggressive cacher of the bunch

One-time thing: after your first fresh load, everything's normal again (asset versions were bumped to 2.0.6, so styles follow automatically).

If you still see the old page after the ?v=2 link, tell me what device/browser and I'll dig into that specific path.
